CAMP.......Best time ever G.S

Ok, so the time I arrived at camp I saw the playground and cheered because there was a really tall slide and I was really excited. My friends were like, Grace we come across to have a truckload of fun and instead your excited about the slide, and I paid no attention what so ever, well ok, I did, but the truth is, I was just showing off and I just like being the centre of attention, a lot and when I  say a lot..... I mean a lot.

So, the first night we slept, it was so tragic, nobody in my room got to sleep untill, like 11:00pm. In the morning most of the boys were up really early and had showers when they were not meant to, anyway, moving of the boring stuff...The first activity we did was raft making. We went with Mrs Fernandes and she told us we only had 4 barrels, a load of tree branches and a bucket full of ropes. She told us we had half an hour to make our rafts.

We realised that when the boys put their raft in the water it broke straight away, anyhow, our raft succeeded half way through the course, which was around the pontoon and back, but like I told you it broke, so in the end we were told we were allowed to swim to the pontoon and jump off.

Next we went to the confidence couse and ...... well I got through most of the way until the very end where we had to walk along a bridge that was too small for my legs and arms, but I managed to carry on and in the end I took ten minutes.

Now, I would tell you more but it looks like you can tell how much fun it was just by how descriptive and long this blog is. so I will stop here and let you get on, I hope
you enjoyed this... short but very long blog.

Talk to you next time.

Son shine ranch was so much fun! on PhotoPeach
Fun on the water at Kawau. on PhotoPeach

My favourtie things at Camp Bentzon

Hey over here!

Tuesday 15 April 2014

A few days ago year six's of Botany Downs school went to the most magical, fun- filled place on Kawau
island, "Camp Bentzon".
It was a two hour bus ride from B.D.S to Sandspit then a twenty minute ferry ride. Once there it was the time of my life.

The cabin was huge, the only down side, because I wasn't in the main building each morning, I had to climb up the stairs. My favourite day was Thursday tenth of April 2014 when I got to do what I have always wanted to do. Brace yourself it was....

ARCHERY. I really wanted to have a game against Mr T but he wasn't there. Atleast I got a center shot in the bullseye where the spot light is, and on that day something no one was expecting, the fire alarm sounded. All the doors slammed close in a flash, luckily it was not a real fire. After that we were allowed back into the building. The manger said it might have been a rat that chewed though the wires.

Later on that night all year 6's performed their skits. My one with my friends was a 'Try not to laugh' and we got everyone laughing, including my teacher Mrs F. She was cracking up.

After a long hard day me and my teacher had a cup of tea. by M.M

Year 6 camp K.K.

Scary Part

When we went hunting for birds and wallaby's at night. Wink, wink, right that's what we did. L.B hurt himself going up the hill, I tripped over like 5,000,000,000 times, L.S was at the back behind me and she was pulling and screaming so loud I think I'm now deaf. A.R was in front of me since L.S was behind me. I was pulling him down, but If was fun.

Funny Part

The funny part was.... and had to be..... the skits.... My favorite one was 'Girls Got Talent' and they all were boys. They were all dressed up in dresses and skirts, it was a comedy and it was so funny I could watch it again and again. I would for sure. Then I was chosen to put make up on Mrs F it was hilarious.

Interesting Part

The most Interesting part is when my group 6 went kayaking all the way to Stingray bay. I saw about 5 sting rays, it was so scary and it was a once in a life time thing, it was so exciting.

camp L.S

Exciting

Kawau island is the most fascinating, fantastic island in the world! I mean they have new super stand up paddle boarding, isn't that amazing?! There was amazing archery, fishing, sailing etc.

Challenging

What I found quite challenging was Killer hill. It was SO exhausting! I could swear I was literally about to unconsciousably collapse. My face was suprisingly sweaty, more than it ever had before! After about every 5 minutest I'd stop, hold a tree and have a 5 second rest. Oh and let me tell you, if you walked up Killer hill, you'd know why they call it "Killer hill." My exhausted legs couldn't walk ANY longer. Buuut I reached my goal and I was very proud.

Funniest
What I found really hilarious was the...... SKIT NIGHT!!! I had the best time of my life that night. At the end of it we got to put beautiful make up all over teachers! Sadly, Miss Radue went home sick so R.P's mum volunteered to help. Mrs Foot chose K.K and J.C to do the make up. K.K grabbed a mountain full of hair gel and spread it all over Mrs Foots hair! Mrs Foot screamed in confusion and asked frightenedly what it was!

CAMP WAS THE BEST WEEK OF MY LIFE!! WOOOOHOOOOO!!!!

camp hilights j.c

I had a great week at Kawau. The most challenging  thing I did was sailing because I was so scared  I was going to fall of.  My heart was pounding and I was so nevous but in the end I managed to sail to the red roof house and then to the five knot mark and back.
At Kawau it was my first time swimming to the pontoon with no life jacket. I was so proud because I had achieved  something I had never done before.
At Kawau the funniest monent was at skit night when we got to decorate the teachers with make up. It was funny because I covered my teachers face with red make up and I wrote LOL on her forehead.

my highlights at kawau island R.P

Kawau was an amazing excperience for me because I had a really good chance to overcome my fears.

The fear that definitley stood out for me was sailing.  Peter was my coach for sailing and made me more confident and not terrified of the boat rocking side to side.  My tummy felt like worms weaving all round inside trying to find a place to rest.  I was attached to a rope with the sail boat and I would get pulled in if I freaked out.

That week it was my first time spending absolutely no time with my family.   At first I felt a bit scared and weird but in the end I was fantastically fine and ended up really enjoying camp without my family members.

I was so excited when I found out that we could jump of the pontoon. My mum would always say better safe then sorry, so I went out with a life jacket and managed to jump off.

WHAT A SURPRISE!!!

THE END

P.S  In my opinion if you went, you would have a blast to.

KAWAU ISLAND!!!!!!!!!!!!! J.M.S

I had such an exquisite time at Kawau Island (Camp Bentzon).
My most memorable moment was when I went SOLO SAILING! I had to do 2 jobs, doing the rope and also steering the boat. There was a saying for turning the boat around, Tiller to the Sail.
The funniest moment was skit night because everyone was amazingly creative. My favourite skit would have been our skit, (me and some other friends), but despite that it would have been Sock Soup or the parent helpers skit.
My firsts would have been kayaking through very shallow waters (mangroves).
The most challenging events would be tramping through rocks and branches to get to our destination of Mansion House or climbing up quad- burning Killer Hill.
I was most eager to do Archery because I was confident I was going to get close to Bulls-eye, as a matter of fact I did:-!!!!
AHHHHHH!!!! The most scary thing would be.......(drum roll please) Being chased by a duck, his name was Pex. :-)
Its a DUCK
AHHHHHHH!!!!
"Tiller to Sail!!"

KAWAU ISLAND.

Kawau Island was AMAZING!
It was the first time I have ever done archery and I got a bullseye. The funniest bit of camp was when the teachers chose two people from each class to do their face with make-up. The most challenging thing at camp was climbing up Killer Hill with my legs aching behind me.

Year 6 camp 2014 Reflection. J.S.

Camp was so awesome, we got to do so many new activities.
My funniest moment at camp was skit night and my favorite act was 'girls got talent' because my friend kept saying vanilla ice cream through it.
My favourite activity at camp was archery. I hit the bulls eye once but it rebounded off because I had not fired the arrow hard enough. In the end I got the highest score in group 4.
The most exciting activity at camp was the kayaking because we got to kayak all the way to Stingray bay. When we were at Stingray bay everyone claimed that they had seen stingrays and one person fell in, thank goodness it wasn't me.
On the first night hardly anyone got to sleep because we were super pumped for the activities we were going to be getting up to.
Camp was awesome, the year 5's are going to love year 6 camp next year so much.

Tuesday 15 April 2014

What I did at year 6 camp M.L.

I had a wonderful time at Kawau Island. It was like going on a holiday without my family but with friends and teachers.

The thing I found interesting was we only got 2 minute showers. ' WHAT!!!' I usually take a long time taking a shower. But it was fun anyway because I got to live a week with my friends and you do not want to live with girls that are completely messy not good.

The funniest thing was probably the skits. One of the groups did 'girls got talent' it was soooooooooooo funny it made my throat sore. Me and K.K were singing a song , and what I found funny was the next day all my friends started singing it and doing the amazing dance moves. Also, my best friend K.K and another boy in my class put make up on my awesome teacher. It was ridiculously weird, everyone was laughing and giggling.

One of the things I found scary was when I jumped off the pontoon. After I kayaked back to shore that was amazing. Also it was my first time holding a bow and arrow. It is actually harder than you think it is. The bow is very heavy. The arrows are really hard to put in. But every time it was my turn I would get it in once. So it was worth it.

Reflect on camp B.C

MY HIGHLIGHT WAS WHEN.....I did the flying fox because it was my first time and it went so fast.
THE FUNNIEST  THING THAT HAPPENED WAS.....When I was on the water confidence course I fell off half way. When I fell off the mud was very soft.
I WOULD LIKE TO DO IT AGAIN....Because the flying fox went very fast and it was fun.
I DID NOT LIKE THE ....First course on the water confidence course because it was very hard and it was hard to get through it.
THE GROSSEST THING THAT HAPPENED WAS....When I was riding the horse  I was behind another horse and the horse did a poo!!!! and my horse nearly stepped on the poo. B.C

Demonstrating Best On Camp J.S.

I believe that I will be able to -do everything without hurting myself .
I believe I will demonstrate excellence when I do -kayaking .
I am already skilled at -kayaking ,fishing and hiking .
Skills I want to learn are -sailing and archery .
I will show thoughtfulness -when we do the skits .

Camp reflection K.L.

MY highlight was when we did the kayaking because it was my first time doing it and I liked getting pushed of the ground and into the water. The funniest thing was seeing my mum screaming on the flying fox. I would like to do the kayaking again because I would like to learn about it more. I didn't like the water confidence course because the rope was hurting my hands and feet, I was scared that I might have fallen in.The grossest thing was seeing people brush their teeth because all the tooth paste was coming out of everyone's mouth and it was really disturbing, also we saw a baby pig in it's
enclosure with poo all over the floor.

Reflections-Sonshine ranch W.C.

My highlight was when I did the water confidence course because I did all of the bridges except for the monkey bars.
The funniest thing that happened to me was at night time and we were telling jokes. Trey told me an inappropriate joke and I was trying to hide and get to sleep.
I would like to do the flying-fox again because when you look down you can see the trees and bushes.
I didn't like the play-ground activity because you get blisters and you have to do as many stuff as you can in 2 minuets .
The grossest thing that happened to me was smelling all the poo and once I stepped  in it.      [THE POO]
